The best of both winter worlds: 4 Vallées and Printse at a glance
If you are planning to spend your ski holidays in Veysonnaz, you are spoilt for choice: you can either choose to explore the 4 Vallées ski area with its 410 kilometres of slopes. Fun for families and children is guaranteed from November to mid-April. Or you can decide to discover only the Printse sector with its 220 kilometres.
But whatever you decide. In both cases, ski areas await you that are located above the tree line and are therefore considered very snow-sure. Even the valley runs through the forests to Veysonnaz can be skied throughout the winter. All thanks to the artificial snowmaking facilities on site. Furthermore, you benefit from modern lifts in both sectors that take you quickly up the mountain. We have picked out some of the region's special features for you:
A paradise for deep powder fans - the highlights in 4 Vallées
Thanks to its high altitude, the slopes around Verbier, which are also part of the 4 Vallées ski area, are world-famous for freeriding. Did you know, for example, that the Freeride World Tour makes a guest appearance here every year? If you happen to be in Veysonnaz during this time, you should definitely not miss out on this spectacle. This is where the elite comes together at Extreme Verbier and shows what is possible in alpine terrain.
But there is also plenty for "normal" freeriders to experience on the snow-covered deep-snow slopes in 4 Vallées. For example, how about one of the steepest runs in Europe, the "Piste du Mont-Fort". This is a black, ungroomed slope that leads to the Col des Gentianes, from where you can either continue to the "Gentianes" ski route or take the lift back to the pass.
Tip: Although the freetracks in 4 Vallées are unprepared runs for freeriding, you should not ignore the alpine dangers. Make sure you have the necessary avalanche equipment and knowledge of how to use it in advance. You can get avalanche transceivers, shovels and probes at your local INTERSPORT Rent shop.
The highlights for families and children around Veysonnaz
Due to its location, the Printse sector is considered family-friendly, as the slopes are wider and the gradient is flatter. Families, children and beginners can enjoy the practice area in Veysonnaz, for example, where the magic carpet and children's runs offer the ideal conditions for making your first turns.
Those who prefer a more active holiday can combine skiing with a scavenger hunt and set out to solve the riddles on the ski mystery slope on the Run de l'Inalpe. You can get the necessary puzzle booklet at the Veysonnaz tourist office or at the reception of the Swiss Ski School - or you can download it in advance. There are eight signs along the slope with clues to help you solve the puzzles. And with a completed booklet, there is even a prize waiting for the kids.
Awaiting you in Veysonnaz:
- 410 kilometres of slopes, should you decide you want to ski all the runs in 4 Vallées.
- Breathtaking events such as the Extreme Verbier as an integral part of the Freeride World Tour.
- A wide range of offers for families with children: How about snowtubing, for example?
- Dozens of restaurants serving the region's culinary delights in the cosy mountain huts in the ski area.
