Les Gets: the laid-back gateway to the ski area

Relaxed moments between Mont Chéry & Les Chavannes

Imagine a traditional Savoyard mountain village between Lake Geneva and Mont Blanc, authentic and laid-back. A haven of peace and relaxation, surrounded by fairy-tale forests. Imagine a typically French atmosphere with a handful of charming cafés and restaurants. What are we talking about? Les Gets, of course!

The popular ski resort is also the gateway to Portes du Soleil, one of the world’s largest ski regions. Even the wildest skiing and snowboarding dreams come true in Les Gets. The resort, which is surrounded by the two neighbouring resorts of Mont Chéry und Les Chavannes, is particularly popular with families and leisure skiers.

Good to know: Several free ski buses and a mini train run from the valley to the lifts and cable cars of Mont Chéry und Chavannes.

Skiing in Les Gets

More about the ski resort

Go from 120 to 600 – kilometres of slopes! From Les Gets, you can access the cross-country ski area of Portes du Soleil and ski all the way to Switzerland.

However, there’s plenty to see and do in Les Gets itself. For instance, Mont Chéry is the perfect mountain for advanced skiers, with splendid powder runs, plenty of red and black slopes and a snow park. From the top, you can even see Mont Blanc on clear days. The highlight for cross-country skiers: the 18-kilometre high-altitude cross-country skiing trail at Mont Chéry.

Families and leisure skiers particularly love Les Chavannes. And rightly so! After all, it not only boasts a “Wild West” children’s area with a thrilling American-Indian-themed trail. It also features the “Espace Mappy” beginner’s area with magic carpets and children’s lifts and plenty of easy slopes for relaxed leisure skiing.

Les Gets in a nutshell:

  • 600 kilometres of slopes, 195 cable cars and lifts, 12 ski resorts in France and Switzerland
  • 235 kilometres of cross-country ski trails
  • “Famille Plus Montagne” quality seal for family-friendly ski resorts
  • snowboarding in Les Gets: perfect for beginners, advanced riders and families
  • legendary ski runs such as “Le Mur” or “La Coup du Monde”
  • boardercross course designed by vice world champion Deborah Anthonioz
  • video park at Perriéres run
  • après-ski in Les Gets: laid-back rather than excessive

Skiing in Les Gets is right for you if …

... you’re planning to spend your family ski holiday in France.

… you’re a snowboard rookie and would like to hone your skills in Les Gets.

… you’re not into riotous après-ski parties.

INTERSPORT Rent tip

Our RENTertainers recommend

The ski resort of Les Gets has one big advantage: It encompasses two ski mountains, one to the left of the village and one to the right. If you would like to follow the sun, simply head to Mont Chéry in the mornings and to Les Chavannes in the afternoons. Skiing and snowboarding with all day sunshine? No problem – there are sunny days ahead for you on your ski holiday in France!
